Leading Viscosity Grade Bitumen dealers in India
Bitumen Viscosity Grades: Bitumen VG10, VG30, VG40
JJ Bitumen – Viscosity Grade Bitumen for road construction
Standard grade bitumen which is used for road construction (Paving grade Bitumen) is Viscosity grade bitumen. With high-end chemical properties, it is the most suitable for producing asphalt pavements. It is very flexible with more plasticity and works well with any material surface. JJ Bitumen company offers locally produced as well as imported petroleum grade viscosity bitumen by major petroleum and oil corporations that pay attention to quality.
Hence, our viscosity bitumen grades are highly reliable and cost-effective.

Viscosity grade bitumen graded by IS73, ASTM, and AASHTO from penetration grade
Road construction in India mainly depends on viscosity grade bitumen, namely VG10, VG30, and VG40, and widely used. Earlier penetration grade was used but Viscosity grade has more favorable properties like viscoelasticity and advantages for road construction it is an easy classification to use the bitumen for different purposes.
Viscosity grade is the classification of the bitumen. It is based on its viscosity value in low and high temperatures (60 ◦C and 135 ◦C) and several thermal conditions which the grades prove suitable for the pavements and especially road construction.

Viscosity Grade Explained
When the numbers denoted next to VG are higher (VG40) the viscosity is thicker and vice versa for VG denoted with lower numbers (VG10). However, bitumen with different viscosity values is equally used in road construction during various stages and to construct different layers. Choosing different Viscosity bitumen grades like Bitumen VG10, Bitumen, Bitumen VG30, and Bitumen VG40 mainly depend on weather and traffic. In General, all viscosity grades are preferred for high adhesiveness and water impermeability.
- VG10 is used in road constructions in cold places, and as the viscosity is less, it can be sprayed.
- VG30 grade is used in the hot regions as the asphalt is just apt for it.
- VG40 is suitable for places having hot weather and also heavy traffic as it sets quicker
JJ Bitumen Company offer high quality Viscosity Bitumen Grades VG10, VG30 and VG 40
Benefits of Viscosity Grade Bitumen
After viscosity grade bitumen replaced penetration bitumen, every grade undergoes rigorous testing for penetration as well as viscosity. As the measurement difference during hot weather is high, testing the viscosity at high temperatures (60 ◦C and 135 ◦C) is more credible.
Nowadays, VG bitumen is used instead of penetration bitumen, because it is tested more carefully in two phases by experts. First, the penetration of bitumen is measured to find out the cracking and set point. Hence, viscosity grading comes with many benefits such as,
VG bitumen at 25 ◦C fatigue cracking and at 135 ◦C construction Bitumen
Temperature is maintained to get the right viscosity needed for the construction VG new fewer tests compared to penetrations tests that reduce time and cost VG is durable and results in high-performance pavements, and it is suitable for high traffic road construction
Viscosity Grade 10 Bitumen (VG10)
VG10 Bitumen has a lower viscosity and has a soft texture. Hence it is more suitable to apply as spray and as a protective coat for the surfaces. It can be used for road construction in the cold climate, and it is a replacement for previous penetration grades used in cold weather. It has good rutting resistance works smoothly between 100C to 250C. VG10 is majorly used in bitumen emulsion manufacturing and modified bitumen products as an essential component.
Benefits of VG10 Bitumen
- Suitable for cold climate
- Absolute Viscosity range 800-1200 Poise
- Very good for spray coating
- Higher penetration

Viscosity Grade 30 (VG30)
VG30 Bitumen has high viscosity compared to VG10 and it is tough.
It is majorly used for the construction of heavy bitumen pavements that bears extra heavy traffic loads. It is the most commonly used grade in road construction and insulation. Industries that use VG30 bitumen include cutback bitumen manufacturing and building construction. It is the replacement for penetration grade 60/70.
Benefits of VG30 Bitumen
- Suitable for high-temperature areas Above 30 ◦C)
- Used in plastic roads
- Can be used both in the summer and rainy season
- As it is thick, it acts as a waterproof
- Absolute viscosity range 2400-3600 poise
- Works on any types of soil
Supreme quality VG30 Bitumen including imported Viscosity Grade Bitumen available with us.
Viscosity Grade 40 (VG40)
High pressure with heavy traffic load areas such as road intersections, toll booth areas, and heavy-duty vehicles parking lots must use VG40 for durability and wear resistance.
It is a suitable grade for high temperature as it is thicker and withstands the heat. It is a replacement for penetration grade bitumen 40/50.
Benefits of VG40 Bitumen
- It is suitable for very high temperature (above40 ◦C)
- Used in hot climate due to high viscosity
- Facilitate Road construction for heavy traffic
